Yes, but we do not know how many species lay eggs like that. Insects from other orders or even snails , may lay eggs like that. What plant were they on? Xanthorrhoea? Please can you take them into protective custody and tend and rear them to discover how they develop, and maybe get an adult insect eventually which we can identify ?
@donhe these were on a rush of some type I couldn't identify due to its long-dead status. I can easily go back and collect them, though I've never reared insect eggs before!
Sounds good. Our CNM botanists may be able to identify the plant if you posts pictures of it. Very few people have reared insect eggs. That is why we know so little about them.
