The shape of the head, together with what I can see of the wing venation, suggests Trichophthalma, in Nemestrinidae

Another person agreed. I'll put that as a suggestion for the ID.

Thanks Korinne - i dd miss the discussion but from what I can see of the wing venation it looks more like Tabanidae - so all leave to oy=thers to confirm
