I appreciate that this will most likely be an inconclusive or unidentified sighting but it’s worth a try. I’m guessing it’s the tail of a small possum or glider. The actual tail beneath the fur was very thin, around 3mm diameter like a piece of wire.

Good record Steve. Tails of Krefft's (Sugar) gliders are not all that uncommon, presumably mostly from owl predation
