This species is very rarely recorded. Possibly overlooked because surface leaves are so similar to introduced species Callitriche stagnalis but, as shown in this photo, the submerged leaves are quite distinctive. At time of writing, there are only 10 herbarium sightings in New South Wales (a bit more frequent in Victoria).

Re-identified as Callitriche umbonata (a rare native plant) based on having dimorphic leaves; submerged leaves being linear, with notched apex (the only Callitriche with such submerged leaves).

Just to clarify: it is not officially 'rare' (or other such status) but it is very rarely observed.
