This species has apparentlty appeared for the first time in the Canberra Region at the same time of year as has also appeared in the South Coast Region. A new species for canberra region if confirmed.

Ha - I thought this looked similar to the moth I posted yesterday, but didn't trust myself - how could it also be here? Thank you.

A seasonal influx?

Or genetically programmed to emerge simultaneously when a particular sequence of changes.of humidity and temperature occurs, to facilitate mating?

Interesting. There is a difference of around 620m in altitude, and a straight distance of around 55km, between the two sites - so varied in temp and humidity?

If the 17 year cicada Magicicada septendecim can do it: I expect moths can.

Hi Ian. Featuring this sighting was a nice idea, but it would be far better if it were made a Significant Sighting. A Featured sighting is only visible for a few days or a week. Making it a Significant Sighting means it is added to the Significant Sighting page and is there indefinitely. Also the contributing member gets an extra number to his or her number of Significant Sightings, which is a nice way of showing an achievement. So I am going to make this a Significant Sighting.
