Hi Mike couple of points, jump to 4 for direct response or read lengthy message for context:
1. usually we don't map Untreated weeds or only to remind us to attend them later.
2. When we do map Untreated weeds they are transformers such as ST, CNG, ALG, Blackberry and too numerous for us and we hope that our work is not ignored by Parks (as in the past - we don't get feedback or a response or treatment and we arrived at the bad feeling that we are ignored or not believed and that we wasted our time!).
3. In the past we were told a number of times, if we map, we should be as accurate as possible; we try to do this with transformers however since we are not sure whether we are not believed or simply ignored or Parks has other priorities than Mt Majura - we just don't know - we try to provide additional evidence with CNM records such as for large patches of CNG close to the Hackett water tank (Untreated) or ST at The Fair project site, North Watson (Treated important data for follow up in this disturbed site).
4. The mapped ST at The Fair and surrounding area are minimum 3 and up to 50 ST plants per patch mapped (Treated) - I certainly can't take photos of each individual tussock (there would be 100s of STs only for The Fair project site and close surrounds) and upload on CNM; so each CNM record represents a patch of treated ST which was also mapped with Field Maps; I often give photos a miss when patches are close together and because it takes a lot of time.
5. At the CR forum Sept 22 one of the gap filling rangers told me in a different context that obvious ST was missed at The Fair. Up to today I'm not sure whether the thought was FoMM missed it. We didn't treat ST at the Fair last winter since I was too sick; since then we changed our ways so more FoMM people can id ST, map and spray independently of me and Parks.
If we knew Parks would take our mapping into account, for which we don't have evidence, we would do more mapping of Untreated weeds. Recently a contractor sprayed CNG at a certain site; we would have mapped the area prior to the contractor however we were not told about plans and so the contractor missed patches.
