Cap less than 1mm. Shady damp spot below tree with lots of leaf litter and soil, stems traceable below ground. Approx 5mm of stem above ground. White all over, caps range from hemi-sphere to pointed. Possible there are no gills. Only appear briefly after rain.
@Heino1 Noted! I was looking for lots of gills. Is it worth bringing one inside for better pics when they show up again? Or not identified to species by morphology?
There are several genera of such small, white fungi with few gills - or perhaps with just a few wrinkles or even with the caps smooth on the underside. Identification relies on various microscopic features so, unfortunately, even an excellent photo need not help. But that need not stop you from taking up the challenge of getting a better photo if these pop up again. Given their small size such small fungi can dry and shrivel fairly quickly. If I collect fungi such as this and want to bring them inside to photograph I keep them in a small, sealed container to keep them humid and take them out after when I’ve set up my camera.
