User's notes

Disturbed when sweeping leaves away from the front door (housework is over-rated - it upsets the wildlife). I'm guessing a Southern Marbled Gecko because we have a couple of others elsewhere around the house, but this one is much darker and less blotchy (more speckled) - and tiny! About 5cm nose to tail tip. Presumably a juvenile?

Yes, housework is over-rated. I had a small juvenile inside my laundry door to days in a row. It was so small that at first I thought it was a small skink until I saw it again the next day and realised that it was a gecko. They are so cute at the age. I've been lucky enough to have them around since at last 2012 but found that they do vary in colour. Perhaps blending with their surroundings?
