@RodDeb : This looks like the larva of an Anthela species, but it does not have the pair of long hair pencils behind the head that A. varia larvae have. Photos of the larvae of only 14 out of Australia's 60 or so named Anthela species have been published, but this does not look like any of those, so it is probably one of the other 46. It would be really good if you could rear it in captivity to get an adult moth for identification of the species.
