User's notes

Unfortunately, I was unable to catch a flock of 6 Mynas with my mobile phone camera; in the second photo you may just spot a black blotch and in the first photo a bird that took off; visible in photo 1 is the underparts of dark wings with large white patches. Residents of the Fair feed both Common Myna and Noisy Miner. Birds of both species spread into the Mt Majura nature reserve east of the Fair several years ago. Small woodland birds crashed both in frequency and diversity despite all efforts of Friends of mt Majura to improve woodland bird habitat in the area. In addition roaming cats and the high frequency of dogs on and off lead have most likely a negative impact on the woodland bird populations.

Can't see it clearly enough Watraud! You will have to confirm it yourself. Barb

Done, thanks Barb. We have lost this last site on the west slope of mt Majura and Mt Ainslie where the little woodland birds were once quite common before Common Myna and Noisy Miner as well as starlings cats and dogs moved in. All efforts to enhance little woodland bird habitat were in vain. So saddening.
