Have pressed a sample for species identification by a botanist at a later date, since D. ciliaris and D. sanguinalis are difficult to distinguish.
Growing in shade of a Cherry Ballart. Close ups and scan added later.
I'm pretty sure the specimen is the Panic Veldtgrass; it has been introduced as pasture grass or turf grass and does well in the shade (where Barb collected). I was a bit confused by the 3rd photo until I noticed it is a magnified close-up of the fruits. Well done Barb. I think the scans of grasses work well although it is much work to take a photo in situ and then a scan of a collected specimen. As Barb mentioned I collected a specimen elsewhere which botanist I. Crawford id-ed and it was the same species as far as I could see (Ehrharta erecta (Panic Veldtgrass)).
