Birdy I think the pink flowers belong to Centaurium erythraea, the Common Centaury. Common Centaury usually flowers in summer, however, I observe the odd flowering now. I don't know the sprawling plant/s surrounding the (to be confirmed) Centaury.

Probably, but we have two species locally and the diagnostic feature is the rosette or lack there of.

okay. Genus is good enough; both introduced Centaury species have been recorded on Mt Majura.
