Should be flagged as significant but doesn't seem to be working at the moment (as with other moderator permissions e.g. confirmation). Already a rare species locally, it isn't a great surprise that they have been breeding after having such a bumper season lately. However, it is still a rather rare event and especially in an area fairly isolated from other woodland and surrounded by suburbia. Even though they are a breeding resident, even normal records are scarce and there are only 3 breeding records in the COG database. @MichaelMulvaney @michaelb

I hadn't realised this was a rare species so I will add that one of them was not moving much when I found them and that the person from ACT Wildlife said they appeared to be malnourished.

I think it is very rare to get a photo of young birds like this. One possible explanation is the adult or adults being deceased, perhaps from a feral cat or fox, but there could be any other possible explanation.
