The spider at the centre of this web is too small to see - just a millimeter or so in size. But the web is very distinctive and one I have never seen before. Perhaps the web's shape can help to identify the spider?
On reflection, I wonder whether this unique web shape just happens to be the beginning stages of a regular orb weaving spider's web? It's possible it was somehow interrupted and did not get to finish making a standard orb web. I have never watched an orb weaver work, so I don't know whether this type of shape is typical of the early stages of building the framework of a partly-finished orb web. The symmetry of this web is so beautiful that I immediately assumed that it was the spider's desired, finished web.
