Ants under rock, about 5mm

Hi tpreston, these are very beautiful ants but it is the other more common species, Rhytidoponera metallica. Rhytidoponera aspera usually has distinctively red legs and a very shiny rear section on the abdomen. The colour of the iridescence on both ants varies from green through to purple. Cheers, Jon
