Hi Alison, from this photo I cant rule out other genera. Was this in a mound? Do you have a better photo of a soldier? Coptotermes soldiers have a fontanelle - a round spot on the front of their head. (It is where they produce a milky defensive liquid.) I cannot see that on the two soldiers in your photo.

This wasn't a termite mound, They were under a piece of fallen wood.

Hi Alison, the head area of the soldiers is important for termite ID. There are only a handful of local species (~20). The ID could be got to genus or species with a sharper photo of some soldiers if you had one. cheers
