Significant sighting

MichaelMulvaney noted:

This is a highly invasive plant and catching it when there is only one plant is the best way to prevent it from becoming a major problem at that location

User's notes

On a Flynn nature strip. Leaves' edges tend to curl.

I think this is bad news sorry Rosie, if confirmed it'll need to be removed ASAP.

Thanks Rosemary - are you able to remove and bag this plant?

I've returned to the site this morning Michael (21st September) The nature strip area has been whipper-snipped. There's one partly damaged flowerhead and three finished flowerheads retrieved. There were two plants and the tops of their branches were shredded. They are now 'potted on'. If they recover I'll be able to see the leaves more clearly, and the flowers. If you'd rather I killed them off properly I'm happy to do that.

Thanks I think kill the ones you know where they are and check the site again in a few weeks - I have also passed this record onto Parks so they may get in touch with you

Thanks Michael. And I meant to include that I would monitor the site.
I suspect the seeds came in on a parked vehicle or trailer at some time. Is it known whether S. madagascariensis seeds germinate at the first opportunity or are they in the seed bank for a period after dispersal?

Seedlings will emerge over time rather than all together see
