Some of the ants were moving their lava to another location. One of the 3 ants is different to the others in abdomen shape and size, is this a queen?

Hi Roger, these are nice photos of Ochetellus, which doesn't get recorded much on CNM because it is a pretty small ant. They are not a very distinctive ant, except in profile, where the last major part of the body has a sharp angle dropping down before it attaches to the peduncle and then the abdomen ("gaster" in ant talk), which you can see well in the right hand ant in your second photo. The left hand ant in the same photo has a very large gaster because it has been foraging for honeydew from sap-sucking insects and the gaster is swollen up like a balloon as a way of carrying it all back to the nest - this is common in ants.
