I can't see anything in CNM cap-with-gills photos that combines a woody-appearance cap with widely spaced gills. Laccaria sp.? Mt Painter Res Wildflower Triangle ridge.
Possibly a Crinipellis australis with a weathered cap. The specimens from this sighting (Crinipellis australis) came from that general area, but much closer to Bindubi St. Do you remember if your mushrooms were growing from or very near a grass tussock?
