It hatched (emerged) from a caterpillar off a casuarina tree - see sighting 4371354

Congratulations. 'Hatch' is usually used for what happens to eggs. Moths can be said to 'emerge' from a pupa, although 'hatch' is a reasonable metaphor for the process.
