The midge orchid record is, I believe, in a similar location to the previous record but the numbers are much higher. The Parson's band orchid is, I believe, well separate to the previous record for DSW and the numbers are also much higher. There is an active rabbit warren in the same area so I was afraid the rabbits had beaten us to the orchids. Thank you, Ned.
Thank Con, the midge orchids are an exact count of the number of species I could see but because I didn't want to damage the understory there are probably more that I missed. The Parson's band number was just a rough count for the total areas of spiny undergrowth so there also could have been more.
