Sorry, these are from last year and I am not sure what they are but I assume they are insect-related. These were both on a dead tree in our front yard, and both were attached about eye-level facing north. The first three photographs show the same object photographed on 29 Nov, 13 Dec and 20 Dec, while the last two photographs were taken on 29 Nov and 20 Dec, of a different but similar object. The tree had a number of little holes in it, that can be seen in photos 4 and 5 but I am not sure if they are associated with these objects because there are more holes than just these two objects. I only saw the first object with the silk[?] covering, not the second object. I saw pintails on the tree at the same time that these objects were on the tree and later, I saw a brownish wasp looking at the holes.

There are 3 copies of this sighting, this one plus 4376172 & 4376188. Can you please sort out the duplicates. Re the objects: the white object looks like a cocoon of some sort. The brown one looks like a fungus, but I might be wrong, but have suggested.

Hi Michael, Sorry about the duplicates. When I uploaded the sighting the processing wheel kept turning for an hour, so I thought that the sighting had not been uploaded. I have removed the duplicates.
Re the objects: The first three shots are of the same subject, so the brown was covered with a white substance then a little while later the white was gone. I hadn't thought about a fungus. I have no idea about fungus but maybe it did create a white skin over itself. Many thanks for the suggestion.
