User's notes

Many (50+) single leafed plants popping up through leaf litter. Found two with flower stalks and buds (one covered in aphids). Perhaps Acianthus sp.

Yes it is an Acianthus sp. the purple underside is important in identifying this genus. Nice photos. They are possibly A.exsertus but it will be interesting to see the flowers when they open, if you can get back in a week or so.
