To me: the stripes do not look right for H. megalarcha, and maybe more like H. opulentellus.

Now that I have had a look at Headnota opulentellus, I agree that it looks more like it.

I'm not sure, based on ALA examples, I can tell H. megalarcha and H. opulentellus apart. For example, both species have a thin dark stripe along a central brown streak. This specimen seems to have no white on the dark brown palps, whereas either seem to have some white showing.

H. opulentellus is one of the confusing group of similar species, both named and unnamed, that we put together under the species I just suggested. There is a note about this on the species page. H. megalarcha can be distinguished from that group so has its own species page.

Thanks Glenn. I think this moth looks very much like the H. opulentellus on ALA but I don't know what the other similar species look like.
