Interesting, but see this similar looking case photographed by Donald Hobern in 2014 on a Black Wattle( A. mearnsii) on Black mountain labelled 'Clania sp.' posted on the ALA:

The moth looks nothing like the Clania sps moths on BOLD at
http://www.boldsystems.org/index.php/TaxBrowser_Taxonpage?taxid=72197
The mottling is very like that on several Lepidoscia sps on BOLD at
http://www.boldsystems.org/index.php/TaxBrowser_Taxonpage?taxid=77367
and very like the drawings of Lepidoscia irrorea by Felder & Rogenhofer at
https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/ia/umdieerdeindenja03akad/#page/388/mode/2up
in figures 39 and 40.
Also photos of Trigonocyttara clandestina

Alison: you photographed a similar case in CNM sighting 4240697, also included in
http://lepidoptera.butterflyhouse.com.au/psyc/psychaz.html
I cannot discern the antennae on your current photos.
are they thread-like or feathery ?

Alison: have you got a photo showing the whole of the empty pupal case?
Also : On what plant was it feeding?
What is the length of the forewing?

It's a bit battered, but I'm pretty sure it's Trigonocytarra clandestina.
