The latest 2 gang gang observations on mt majura seem to indicate breeding? would anyone be able to check/confirm?

Thanks Jochen - I missed this record when you reported it and only came across it in preparation for this coming season. Definitely a young in nest close to fledging. Gang-gangs tend to nest close together and from now until mid October is when they are most actively searching for nests. If you could (in your hourly ration of exercise) or whenever when we become lockdown free start checking the vicinity for gangs-gangs looking into, chewing bark or entering hollows in this vicinity and putting these records on Canberra Nature Map that would be greatly appreciated and will hopefully lead to the identification of other nests. We will be in touch re checking hollows in mid-October to November with a pole camera

Hi Michael
we were always suspicious about Gang-gang nesting in this area in the magnificent hollow-bearing Yellow Box and Brirtttle Gum trees. We observed suspicious activities over the past years but couldn't see fledglings. So this is the first proof. Well done Jochen. :-)

Waltraud - would appreciate if Friends of Mt Majura could photo Gang-gang feeding and hollow activity they may witness in their hour of freedom walks on Mt Majura and then in October or Early November it would be good if we could have an exercise of checking likely hollow and set out a program for watching for chicks. We already have some trees of interest in the vicinity to Jochen's nest tree.

I'll try to convince some people to do their 1-hour exercise walk pass by the area...
