My thoughts are that the markings suggest this is a male Common Bronzewing, interested to know what others think.

Yes Matthew, definitely just a male Common Bronzewing. They are larger than Brush Bronzewings, and lack rufous on the wings and upperparts which is really distinctive of Brush Bronzewings. The pale cream forehead shows this bird is a male, females have a grey forehead.
