This is a weed of major consequence if it spreads good to catch it early

Growing on bank of Ginninderra creek. Extremely fearsome spines from lower trunk to tips of branches. I thought it might be a Robinia but its flowers seemed to be too small.

They claim that non-thorn varieties are safe, but they are not they do not breed true.
