Are you sure these are Black-faced Cuckooshrikes? The left hand bird looks like a White-bellied Dark Form and the right hand bird also looks like it could be a White-bellied.

Happy to go with your judgement. There were a lot of cuckoo shrikes around.

Look like Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike to me ? Both have black in rear of eye.

Bird on left has grey crown ruling out dark morph WbCs and bird on right is a young BfCs.

I think these are Black faced Cuckoo Shrikes, as Shorty has pointed out. The white at the back of the eye is quite obvious to see in a moving bird, as can be seen in my film from central NSW https://vimeo.com/136276070

I agree, these photos look just like the immature Black-faced Cuckoo-shrike illustrations in the Australian Bird Guide, and not at all like the White-bellied Cuckoo-shrike illustrations. Unless Alison has more photos which show the white half eye ring, or evidence that the black stripe does not cover the ear coverts then it is highly unlikely that they are the much rarer White-bellied Cuckoo-shrike.

That was my thought also. There were a lot of Black-faced flying around this area.

Hi all, thanks for the comments and identification, I have re-confirmed and removed significant sighting. The left hand bird does appear to have much more black than I would expect for a Black-faced (Juv or adult) and I had other opinions that it was White-bellied, but thanks for pointing out the white behind the eye, something I didn't know about and something I will look for in the future.

Just found another sighting of a bird that looks exactly like this one on ABID (facebook), ID'ed as a Black-faced. I have learnt some things from this sighting about Cuckooshike identification! Sorry for any confusion with the ID, it is definitely a Black-faced CS.
