Significant sighting

SuziBond noted:

21 Sep 2020

This is the first evidence of this species laying eggs in the ACT.

User's notes

Went in search of this butterfly which was only first seen in the ACT by Owen two years ago. I found two. The first was feeding on Wood Sorrel flowers. The second was hiding in grass (I thought). I photographed it anyway, and was surprised to find in my photographs that it had laid an egg! I assume that the grass is Austrostipa Scabra, which is their larval food plant. See the 4th and 5th pics for the before egg and after egg pics.

Thanks Christine need a seed head to confirm the grass ID, but definitely could be Austrostipa scabra

That's an awesome find Christine! What time were you there yesterday? I got a guided tour by the man himself (Owen) and we only found one (photo to be uploaded soon).

Thanks Owen, Michael and Matthew. I did notice that Austrostipa Scabra has been identified on Tuggeranong Hill before, but no seed heads out at the moment.
It is great that your initial find was not just a one off Owen.

There's certainly plenty of A. scabra through the area.
