Nice biologist identified it on facebook, and I'm off to get some proper macro photos tomorrow to share here and with him.. (fingers crossed a wallaby hasn't eaten it) "quite a rare, undescribed species related to Prasophyllum patens"

Very nice find Judith! I saw the fb discussion too, Lachlan Copeland knows best about these Prasophyllum and it certainly does seem to match the P aff patens from the Victorians. This would be a new taxon for the Canberra Nature Map area. Makes our upcoming orchid field guide out of date before its even published! I'd be keen to head out and check it out if you're happy to give directions (totally fine if you'd rather not).

No problems Tobias, I'll see if messaging directions over to you works. I went up there today for some more photos, but the ones Lachlan is after. evaded me. The light didn't work, so I'll have another crack at it, in the next few days. Fingers crossed a wallaby doesn't try to snack on it :-)
