User's notes
80 mm across. Mt Painter reserve, Wildflower Triangle, flat part E of bike path, eucalypt woodland. Another specimen (100 mm) in same area on May 26.

This is a mycorrhizal fungus that grows in association with nearby plants, usually trees. Both partners benefit from this association. It's helpful, if possible, if nearby trees can be identified to try and gain a greater understanding of these associations. They are related to the boletes though have gills instead of pores.

Nearby trees are Eucalyptus blakelyi (Blakely's red gum) and E. bridgesiana (apple box).
