Ric Longmore (see a google link below), of the ACT herpetological Association (ACTHA) is very interested in your death adder sighting. He is interested in some more details (eg topography, vegetation), if that is possible. Could you please give me a call (0427 788 304)? Margaret Ning, treasurer ACTHA

I pointed out this sighting to Ric Longmore, author of the “Elapids of Australia”, which was which was based on very extensive research into museum species of a elapids. Based on his research and predictive model of the location of the elapids, and the common death adder (Acanthophis antarcticus) in particular was developed. The model predicted that this species that is could be found in the Araluen area. The species is not generally found in the Canberra region as it would be too cold for it. Rick I pointed out that this species comes into forms and reddish-orange and grey.
