Probably from the flower colour. However I need a photo of the basal leaves (rosette) a measurement of width, and a photo of the back of a leaf or a comment about whether the midvein along the middle of a leaf sticks out obviously or not, to be certain it is armeria and not graminifolium.
No. It is good to try to ID to species level. When oeople are starting out they never realise that IDs depend on more than face on photos of flowers. When Don and I were taking photos using a film camera for our field guides in the days when every shot cost a dollar or so, we discussed what the diagnostics for the species were for every shot and then took it at three different exposures. Leaves and stems were always important, side on shots of the flowers often, sometimes the backs of the leaves.
