The nest of these ants got buried under debris during the hailstorm, but a few hours later they were finding their way back in.
I managed to get my tape down next to one of these and to one of the all-red species, and was surprised to see that they are the same length - about 3 mm. The black-headed ones seem bigger, but this is possibly because they are slower near the nest and I can get closer.
