!st electronic record of this Jewel Beetle in our region. Prior to CNM there were less than 15 Jewel beetles in the public record for the wider Canberra region - we are now ,mainly due to Harrisi , up to over 50 species

Kind words, thanks Michael. demonstrates how effective that CS can be, especially if specifically focused. A carrot was dangled in front of me two years ago by a jewel beetle guru who stated he believed that approx 100 sp. would exist in the greater Canberra region. We are now past half way, plenty of hard work still to be done :) As to the impact of recent fires on jewel beetle populations, remains to be seen as well, we simply need to get out there (when safe to do so) and keep recording!

Very interesting.
Michael M, just remembering our rejected Environmental Trust Research Grant application. They said:
“The application was considered to be primarily about expanding uptake of an existing software platform (NatureMapr) rather than dedicated research.”
I think it would be useful in future to describe the multiple research objectives that we have going on, and aspire to do with an expanded platform.
This a fairly "dedicated research" effort by Stuart.

Thanks Michael B for your supportive and insightful comment. So much citizen science (CS) goes unnoticed, unrecognised and not utilised. Both the scientists and citizens in CS can play a multitude of roles to further its cause and culture, as you have done here...
