Following the key for 'Scioglyptis spp.' on the CD supplied with Moths of Victoria Part 7 I'm suggesting S. loxoxgrapha and not S. chionomera because there is no shadowy grey patch on the forewing, and the main hiindwing line is plain and not scalloped and there is no dark spot present . S. chionomera , S. loxographa and S. canescaria can be distinguised from the other Scioglyptis spp. by the more rounded and less scalloped shape to the hindwing termen of these species.

Following revision the moth moderators have agreed that this Sighting No. 4240235 and 3383346 are both S. chionomera. Despite the lack of a shadowy grey patch in this sighting No 4240235 the presence of a thick dark main forewing streak in both sightings is more characteristic of S. chionomera than S. loxographa after looking at a series of set specimens of both species. In S. loxographa the main forewing streak is lighter and much narrower than in S. chionomera. Both S. chionomera and S, loxographa are known to occur in the ACT. This is an additional criterion to be taken into account compared to the criteria put forward by Moths of Victoria for distinguishing the two species from one another.
