Identified as Ectinorhynchus variabilis on iNaturalist, a species thought to be restricted to Tasmania.

Ectinorhynchus (variabilis) – robust flies, dull black medial stripe on thorax surrounded by 2 broad dull silver stripes joining posteriorly; antennae hairy, as long as head, robust, first and third segments chunky cylindrical & about equal length; sub-apical seta on hind femur, banded wings, venation – open m3 (that you can’t see), male – females have orange laterally on thorax and orange abdomen usually.
