Thanks Greg, I just came up with a suggestion after browsing through the CNM images. I am not sure whether I should update the ID suggestion myself, or wait for a moderator.

The family Stratiomyidae is not available under family names. I suspect the fly is Exaireta spiniger, an Australian native fly that is often found associated with compost bins. I'm surprised the species has not been recorded previously in CNM.

Hi Greg, I searched on CNM for Exaireta spinigera and it was already recorded (but the family name Stratiomyidea is not listed as you said).
