Clouds of these tiny flies. Gall midges?

Great shots, Cath. One of the midges seems to be laying eggs into the leaf tissue. Looks like a eucalypt.

Re ID'd..... There was no need to create a new name for this one. We had Sciaridae (family) in with Crane flies, mosquitoes & gnats. I'll delete the duplicate species name.
