Hi Wandiyali, thanks for this photo. This is an unusual ant around the ACT region, so great to have a record of it. I will have to check at ANIC to see what other records we have. The common name comes from the ant's ability to produce a foamy defensive secretion from its venom glands at the tip of the tail, although the ant can still sting (painfully) as well. Cheers, Jon
