Small Ranunculus growing on the edge of Kangaroo Creek, not far from Corin Dam, stems very hairy and leaf edge also hairy.

I am fairly certain this is Ranunculus scapiger, which is hairy and has leaves the shape of those in your photo. However, one of the most important characters in IDing species of Ranunculus is whether the sepals cup the flower or are turned down. Unfortunately your sideways on photo of a flower is not taken from such an angle as to show the sepals.

You are right. I had not looked properly. Obvious when I blew the flower up a lot and saw the second sepal.
