New recorded location of Rough Tree Fern, which is rare in the ACT region

Growing on a steep southern slope a few metres above dry creek bank among blackberries in an area subject to a prescribed burn in the past 12 months

Hard to be absolutely sure, the main fronds are indicative, but the hard sharp bases of the fronds are a good guide. If so, it's good to see mature C. australis in the Blue Range again.

Also, keep an eye out for Bat's Wing Fern (Histiopteris incisa) in the darker parts of the creek leading uphill from the Hut, and Todea barbara (King Fern) where Blue Range Road has zig-zagged up and heads back north again, in the gullies just below the road.

Thanks David, access to some of these areas is more difficult these days. The gullies are full of blackberries, some of the tracks are gone and some of the area is closed for rehabilitation following a prescribed burn and forestry activities. However, I intend to keep looking in the general area as it has been 30 yrs since I've seen a King Fern.
