User's notes

Does anyone know what this old and run down cage is trying to protect?

It is probably part of grazing monitoring with grass uptake being compared from levels inside and outside the cage

Thanks Michael that makes sense. I've checked this particular cage over the past few years and never seen anything special flowering inside it.

Sometimes these cages have been very successful in allowing grasses to grow and set seed without being eaten by rabbits and kangaroos. One rectangular cage about 2m x 1m on Isaacs Ridge is visible on Google Maps just because the grass grew.
