They are widespread in eastern Australia, including Tasmania. They move well inland when there are suitable flowering trees. Birds in the Australian High Country Revised Edn 1976 states that in our area it has been recorded at rare intervals. Birds of the Australian High Country (2017) calls it a rare non-breeding visitor. First appearance in my garden was about 2 years ago. Note that all photos on CNM are from the same area of Wanniassa. There have been 2 around for the past month.
