Probably OK. Did you notice if the leaves were hairy underneath? The juvenile leaves of Clematis aristata are simple rather than with three lesflets, as in your photo, usually purplish with white streaks along the main veins, and are hairy underneath
I didn't check that I'm afraid; there were many much more obvious Clematis a. specimens around, I should have picked a better one but didn't have much time.
