This isn't a butterfly or moth caterpillar, it is the the larva of something else (sawfly?). A good thing to check when you're trying to identify a butterfly caterpillar is to check the plant it is on/eating - most species have preferred plants they eat, and this can be very helpful in nailing species identification.

This larva doesn't look quite like a sawfly, I think it is a leaf beetle, maybe Paropsis or a related genus.
