This is lmost certainly a Cyperus species, but the individual spikeltes look really small, so i don't recognise the species from the photos - might be worth collecting a specimen if you are going past soon.

I didn't recognise this one which has different seed-heads from those I know. It was hard to photograph because it was in the water and I couldn't get closer. With the recent rain it will be underwater now and may be damaged by the process. I will endeavour to get a specimen when I can, but it may not be until next growing season.

Local nurseries stock this plant and recommend it for dam bank stabilisation so I guess it is just a matter of time before it became naturalised.

This species has been planted throughout the ACT in wetlands/ponds. It has persisted in Macgregor bio-retention ponds for 8+ years now.
