Testing to see if the Android app is working again - have had trouble over the last few days. Successful record but the phone camera gives the wrong location (from the camera gallery not the app). Curses.
Thanks Mike. Quick update guys. A new release for Android went out about a week ago to resolve some nasty issues. In the process, it has also introduced some new minor bugs. It is very frustrating for me because resolving one issue on some models, results in new issues on other models. Android is a lot more inconsistent and variable compared to iPhone and iOS. Meanwhile, my baby son is about to be born we think next week so I am kind of stuck to properly dive in and get this resolved. Very sorry guys, but this is on my TO DO list as soon as I can. But think I need to have a meeting with at least 3 of you Android users with different model phones to test thoroughly on each and every model. I'm finding that the Android emulators do not represent real world phones and so when everything works perfectly in my testing, it fails when it hits real world devices. So we have to do better testing on real peoples' phones to ensure these things can be picked up before release to Google Play.
Upon reading this I opened up my app. For some reason I was logged out and CNM had add next to it even though I had downloaded it previously. I had 1 sighting in the upload queue from last Friday. I uploaded it and it told me upload successful. However after checking online it does not seem to have made it...
Hi Ryu, you have a sighting without a picture which is probably the one you uploaded. If you 'add' a project and log in you might be able to report a sighting but the added project does not stay. I missed a flock of choughs today because there was no project selected, even after I had managed to upload the eucalypt sighting. I think we will have to wait until Aaron starts having all those sleepless nights..
Guys I know this might be a real pain, but what would be absolutely awesome is if we could organise a quick meetup somewhere like at a cafe or public place with about 3-4 Android users who are seeing the issues, then I bring my laptop gear and we debug the app live on each of your devices. This will then show me exactly where and why each device is having the issues and we can resolve it there and then. Apart from that, I'd need to go and buy like 5 different Android model phones to be able to test on every possible device! Let me know if anyone is interested in an Android testers meeting to try to sort this out. Cheers Aaron.
Thanks Mike can you link me to that sighting? I have a copy of the image in my phone but it app says it doesn't have location data, maybe that sighting stripped the location data from the image but I should be able to add it onto that. Aaron- I'm off on a COG camp Thursday to next week so only available till Wednesday AM, and next week Thursday onwards, which may not work too well for you. We've survived without the Android app for a few years and one can take images and upload them when the app is later functional so don't feel too pressured - prioritise what you have to and make the most of this next exciting phase
