When I click on some of the near-by sightings such as the dragons a message comes up:
Sighting not found
This sighting has been removed or no longer exists.
How could that be? Has someone actively removed them and why?

This is very strange.
If a sighting has been deleted, then it should not appear on the nearby sightings list.
Do you know who reported these sightings?

I can't remember who reported them. Most of those sightings are from begin 2016 (16 Jan -1 Apr 2016); the Marsilea record of 16 Jan (not my record) clearly indicates the record taken at the little dam.

if someone leaves CNM for whatever reason would the records been taken down if the person wishes so?

If someone leaves CNM the records would be deleted unless he/she gave us permission to keep them.
I suspect the records have not been deleted but there is some sort of bug that is causing the records to show up as Sighting not found.
I've reported the issue to Aaron & Rohan.

The records all belonged to Dusty (Geoff McVeigh). He asked that all his sightings be removed from our database. This has been done.
There was a bug in our system where the images were still showing up on various sighting lists, such as this one of "Nearby Sightings", but when we clicked on the image it said "Sighting not found".
This problem has been sorted out, and Dusty's sightings are now completely invisible.
It is a shame to have lost him and his sightings but we could only do what he asked.
